Doyle Brunson

Doyle Brunson Poker has produced many legendary names over the years, and few are quite as legendary as the Texas Dolly himself in Doyle Brunson. Doyle played as a poker professional for over 50 years, and was a two-time winner of the World Series of Poker Main Event. He’s also a part of the modern Poker Hall of Fame, and has become a well-respected author on the sport itself.

Brunson also entered history when he became the first person in history to win over $1m in poker tournaments. Having played before and during the big money era of the game, Brunson was a rare specimen in that he managed to straddle eras very sucecsfully. Hs final tournament came in 2018, when he came sixth place in the 2018 Single Draw of the WSOP event, earning over $43,000 to put into his lifetime kitty.

As one of just six players to win a WSOP Main Event and World Poker Tour title, too, Brunson has become a legend to try and overtake in the sport. Few players, though, will ever come close to beating the achievements of a man who was mastering poker before most of the modern top pros were even born.

Alongside Loren Klein and Bill Lloyd, he is one of just three players in history to win WSOP events in four consecutive years. Brunson is a very interesting man and has led one of the most interesting lives in the poker industry. Indeed, in the 1960s he was diagnosed with a form of cancer that had spread; there were fears, though, that he would not live long enough to see the birth of his first son.

Instead, he not only survived the treatment, but no trace of the cancer could be found!

His legacy carries on today at the poker table with his son Todd and his daughter Pamela.
